Shrewsbury Rehabilitation and Nursing at Southgate, a 5-star rated facility, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. As a valued member of our staff, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a highly trained team of professionals to deliver exceptional rehabilitation services to our patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive treatments to patients under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, according to MA state practice guidelines

  • Assist in identifying appropriate patients and referring them to rehab accordingly

  • Document patient participation and progress in an accurate and timely fashion, and obtain the co-signature of the Physical Therapist

  • Ensure MD orders are obtained for treatments, recertifications, and discharges

  • Assist with other documentation requirements as indicated and according to state guidelines

  • Attend facility and rehab meetings as needed

  • Act as a rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team

  • Participate in scheduling of patients as needed

  • Complete billing and bill patients ethically and accurately for physical therapy services rendered

  • Cover other therapists' patient caseload during absence as necessary

  • Supervise junior PTA staff members or students as needed

  • Maintain a professional relationship with co-workers, facility staff, patients, and patient families

  • Provide in-service education regarding patient care or physical therapy services to rehab staff, facility staff, hospitals, and/or community as needed

  • Comply with all facility and safety policies and procedures

  • Report to work on time, adhere to scheduled hours, and project a professional image at all times

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associates degree in Physical Therapy recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)

  • Holds current license and/or registration in the state of Massachusetts

  • Ability to transfer patients, lift weights, transport patients, and perform treatment on the mat
