Reports to: Dental Director

Position Overview:

The Dental Assistant is responsible for preparing patients for dental treatment & assisting the attending dentist with treatment. This includes providing patient support services, maintaining equipment, & any other duties as assigned.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist dental staff (dentists, hygienists, & Dental Coordinator)
  • Seat, monitor, & dismiss patients
  • Deliver proper post-operative instructions
  • Sterilize & disinfect all instruments, equipment & treatment areas & prepare them for the next business day
  • Order & maintain supplies, equipment, & laboratory cases needed to provide services
  • Expose radiographs for treatment diagnosis
  • Stock all rooms with supplies needed to provide services
  • Review charts for current blood work, paperwork, referrals, doctor’s notes, etc.
  • Manage and maintain charts
  • Perform duties in accordance with OSHA safety, protection protocols, & HIPPA compliance
  • Assist Infection Control Officer with MSDS for OSHA compliance
  • Oversee storage, collection, & disposal of medical waste.
  • Assist Dental Director with programmatic growth & facilitate ongoing enhancement of services
  • Assist with policies & protocols relating to safety & overall operations
  • Assist with billing and invoices
  • Assist with front desk and scheduling
  • Assist with patient communication
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Dental Director


Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Dental Assistant licensure required, experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse staff and volunteers
  • Ability to work hours as required
  • Computer skills as necessary to use dental software and Microsoft Office
  • Spanish language skills preferred
  • CPR certified
