Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Industrial maintenance mechanics need a broad mix of mechanical and technical abilities:

• Mechanical systems — Power transmission, bearings, pumps, gearboxes, alignment, and machine installation/repair.
• Fluid power — Hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Electrical — Basic electricity, motor controls, troubleshooting circuits, and use of multimeters.
• Other technical skills — Welding, machining, blueprint/schematic reading, rigging, and preventive maintenance.
• Soft/technical skills — Troubleshooting and diagnostics, safety protocols (lockout/tagout, PPE), problem-solving, communication, and basic computer/PLC knowledge.
  

Physical demands include lifting heavy equipment, working in noisy/dusty/hot/cold environments, and standing for long periods.
