Position Summary
Maintenance Mechanic to oversee, maintain, and troubleshoot our automated manufacturing and critical facility support machinery. This role begins with an intensive, direct knowledge-transfer and training period focused on our primary automated filling lines. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who thrives in a production environment and possesses a diverse mechanical and facility infrastructure skillset.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary lead technician responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing our linear indexing automated liquid filling and lamination system, alongside other secondary manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Facility Support Systems: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair critical plant utility equipment, including central air compressors, vacuum systems, refrigeration/chilling units, and general mechanical infrastructure.
• Diagnostic Troubleshooting: Rapidly diagnose mechanical failures, isolate root causes under production pressure, and implement reliable, long-term hardware fixes.
• Documentation & Parts Tracking: Maintain accurate logs of PM schedules, equipment repairs, and component wear. Assist in identifying and stocking critical mechanical spare parts.
Qualifications & Skills
• Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a maintenance mechanic or technician in a manufacturing, packaging, or automated production environment.
• Mechanical Expertise: Strong proficiency with mechanical drives, gearboxes, indexing units, pneumatic components, and basic facility utilities (compressors, HVAC/refrigeration basics).
• Adaptability: Proven ability to learn specialized, legacy, or proprietary machinery quickly via direct peer-to-peer training.
• Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, maneuver, crouch, kneel, and work with dexterity in tight machinery spaces, and respond quickly to floor emergencies.
• Proximity: Must be located within a 45-minute drive of our Carlsbad, CA facility.
• Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently without constant supervision.
