Purchasing Specialist (Permanent, Full Time)

Location: Seymour, CT- fully onsite

Salary: $65,000–$75,000 annually (based on experience)

Our client is a well-established manufacturing company in Seymour, CT seeking a motivated and experienced Purchasing Specialist to oversee the complete purchasing lifecycle. Responsibilities

• Manage the full purchasing lifecycle from sourcing through delivery
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with new and existing suppliers
• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships
• Monitor supplier performance, pricing, quality, and delivery schedules
• Forecast inventory requirements and maintain optimal stock levels
• Coordinate purchasing activities based on production schedules and demand
• Track lead times and proactively address supply chain issues
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with vendors
• Process purchase orders and ensure timely order fulfillment
• Collaborate with production, inventory, and management to support operational needs
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and reports

Qualifications

• 2+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of inventory planning, forecasting, and vendor management
• Experience negotiating pricing and supplier contracts
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; ERP/MRP system experience is a plus
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative
• Comfortable working in a small office where teamwork and flexibility are essential
