Senior Project Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Accountant to support the financial management of construction-focused projects in Oakland, California. This role will oversee project-level accounting activities, help maintain accurate financial reporting, and partner with operational teams to keep budgets, billing, and cost tracking aligned. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of project accounting systems and can work confidently across multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary finance/accounting contact for clients.
• Review, reconcile, and maintain accurate financial records and GL accounts.
• Prepare financial statements, budgets, forecasts, journal entries, and management reports.
• Analyze revenue, expenses, and financial trends to support planning and decision-making.
• Assist with month-end close, audits, and special projects.
• Identify accounting issues, recommend process improvements, and ensure data accuracy.
• Train Project Accountants and help develop procedures and client training materials.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

• 3+ years of accounting/finance experience; nonprofit background preferred.
• Knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including grant funding, is a plus.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field preferred.
• Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word, and accounting systems; Intacct experience beneficial.
• Strong communication, customer service, and attention to detail.
• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Adaptable, proactive, and committed to supporting nonprofit organizations.
