Part-Time Organist

  • Compensation: $16,000 - 18,000 dependent upon experience

  • Responsibilities
    %CF; Provide organ music for Sunday morning worship, including prelude, offertory, communion music (when scheduled), and postlude.
    %CF; Accompany congregational hymns with confidence and sensitivity to worship.
    %CF; Accompany the church choir during weekly rehearsals and Sunday worship while the choir is in season.
    %CF; Participate in special worship services throughout the year, including Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Easter, Christmas Eve, and other significant occasions.
    %CF; Arrange for a qualified substitute when unavailable

  • Qualifications
    %CF; Proficiency in organ performance.
    %CF; Experience accompanying congregational singing and choirs preferred.
    %CF; Strong sight-reading skills.
    %CF; Reliability, professionalism, and good communication skills.
    %CF; An appreciation for the mission and ministry of the church. Membership at Newtown United Methodist Church is not required.
