Lead/Manager Sheet Metal Fabricator

• Fabricates, assembles, duct metal products such as t-wyes, ceiling cans, transitions, custom duct, metal and ductboard plenums
• Determines project requirements including scope, assemble sequences, and required materials according to written and verbal instructions
• Able to estimate materials and labor required for customer orders with high accuracy and with quick turnaround
• Able to read blueprints
• Lays out, measures, and marks dimensions on material, according to drawings using calculators, scribes, dividers, squares and rulers
• Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
• Lays out and examines metal stock or workpieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
• Fastens seams or joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal driver clips, or bonds to assemble components into products or to repair sheet metal items.
• Fabricates or alters parts using shears, hammers, punches, or drills.
• Selects gauges or types of metal or nonmetallic material, according to product specifications.
• Transports prefabricated parts to construction sites for assembly and installation.
• Drills and punches holes in metal, for screws, bolts, and rivets.
• Maintains equipment, making repairs or modifications when necessary.
• Trims, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs, or smooths surfaces, seams, or joints of assembled parts, using hand tools or portable tools.
• Shapes metal material over anvils, blocks, or other forms, using hand tools.
• Comfortable and willing to train others ie. an apprentice
