Assistant Controller

A client of 6 Degrees Group is hiring for an Assistant Controller in Atlanta, GA. This role supports the Controller across accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls for a company with development, property management, and corporate entities under one roof. The position blends hands-on accounting work with leadership, serving as a go-to resource for complex accounting matters and a key backup for critical financial functions. Real estate and property accounting experience is important given the mix of development projects and managed properties in scope. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys variety — juggling corporate compliance, property-level oversight, and team development all at once.

Responsibilities:

Oversee accounting operations across development, property management, and corporate entities

Support preparation and review of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and month-end/quarter-end/year-end close

Provide financial oversight for development projects and managed properties, including job costs and leasing activity

Guide and support accounting team members while driving process improvement and system initiatives

Qualifications:

5–7 years of progressive accounting experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Experience with property management and/or real estate accounting required

Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems, with MRI or Yardi experience preferred
