HRIS AI Project Manager
Job Description
Title: HRIS AI Project Manager
Category: Full-Time
Status: Exempt, Salary
Salary: $120K to $140K annually, DOE
Reports to: Director of Product & Operations
Location: Onsite at TCWGlobal Corporate Office (San Diego, CA)
Start: ASAP
Position Summary:
TCWGlobal is a people-first workforce solutions company known for combining operational excellence with a highly human workplace culture. Our San Diego campus, onsite amenities, charitable gift matching, volunteer time, and commitment to growth reflect the belief that great work should also be meaningful work.
Cloud Motion Technologies (CMT) is TCWGlobal's technology engine. CMT builds AI-native products, intelligent workflows, data systems, and automation layers that help redefine how modern workforce operations are delivered. Together, TCWGlobal and CMT are entering a Digital Metamorphosis: reimagining products, workflows, decisions, and human-machine collaboration through responsible AI, strong governance, and measurable business impact.
We're building software where people are wowed by the workflow — beautiful design, marvelous engineering, and memorable service are the standard, not "good enough." The HRIS AI Project Manager owns the delivery layer that turns that ambition into shipped product. You will run projects across an AI-augmented team where specialist agents handle estimation, drafting, and review, and humans own judgment and approval. Your job is to keep the whole picture coherent: scope tied to real goals, work moving through our brief-driven pipeline, and every decision traceable back to why it matters.
This is not a ticket-shuffling role. You are the person who holds delivery accountable to the mandate — asking "does this make us better?" before "is this done?" You'll coordinate across product, engineering, and our agent ecosystem; surface drift early; and make sure clients and employees are both served by what we ship. You thrive on clarity, care about elegance as much as velocity, and treat transparency and alignment as the operating system, not the overhead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end delivery of one or more products/initiatives — from brief through phased execution to launch — keeping scope, timeline, and quality in explicit balance.
- Deep knowledge of HRIS processes from a client, vendor, integrator perspective. Coding knowledge isn’t necessary but understanding of gates, workflows, permissions, roles and navigate creative paths to human centered solutions is essential.
- Ability to predict future needs of clients and your stakeholders and suggesting mature models to solve those problems in the context of a broader echo system is critical. Nothing we do lives in a vacuum. You need the skill of micro and macro assessment and implimentation.
- Translate goals and briefs into a clear, sequenced plan; keep the living brief and phase statuses current as the source of truth.
- Coordinate work across human teams and AI agents, orchestrating hand-offs, human-in-the-loop approvals, and review gates so nothing ships unowned or unreviewed.
- Track risks, dependencies, and blockers proactively; escalate the rare, specific, worth-interrupting issues early — and resolve the rest yourself.
- Hold delivery to the design mandate: push back on "good enough," protect against redundancy and drift, and defend UX quality under deadline pressure.
- Run crisp rituals (standups, planning, retros) that produce decisions and momentum, not status theater.
- Maintain accurate reporting on progress, effort, and outcomes; make trade-offs visible and decisions traceable.
- Ensure every initiative connects to a stated goal and every consequential deadline is evaluated against the correct, explicit timezone — never an implicit default.
- Partner with product and engineering leadership to sequence priorities and keep the roadmap honest.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 5+ years managing software delivery, with a track record of shipping high-quality products on realistic timelines.
- Ability to quickly see patterns in data and problems. Scope driven dynamic implementation of various agentic and human solutions.
- Fluency with modern SDLC, agile/iterative delivery, and brief- or spec-driven workflows.
- Working understanding of AI/LLM-augmented workflows — comfortable coordinating human + agent teams and reasoning about where automation ends and human judgment must own the decision.
- Excellent written communication; able to make complex trade-offs legible to executives, engineers, and clients alike.
- Strong systems thinking: sees dependencies and second-order effects, not just tasks.
- High bar for design and engineering quality; can hold the line on elegance and coherence without becoming rigid.
- Demonstrated ability to surface risk early and escalate with precision rather than noise.
- Comfort with data reads dashboards, telemetry, and metrics to steer delivery, not just report on it.
- Critical experience in enterprise/regulated environments (EOR, staffing, payroll, or similar), and familiarity with compliance-aware delivery (e.g., SOC 2 controls; i18n etc).
- Values fit: transparent, thoughtful, accountable, and in constant alignment someone who helps the team be the best version of itself. Must have intellectual humility to thrive in this role.
Salary & Benefits:
This position offers full-time benefits, including a comprehensive benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
Additional compensation may be earned by exceeding sales and service goals.
