Senior Associate - Advanced Tax Strategy (ATS)

New Gig Solutions
Bedford, TX, US Full Time

Job Description

Job Description

New Gig Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a growing, well-regarded law firm.

Our client runs a high-touch practice serving founders, owner-operated businesses, and individuals with significant wealth. The group is busy, the work is sophisticated, and the team is small enough that a strong attorney can make an immediate mark. This is an opportunity to own meaningful matters end to end rather than slot into a narrow lane.

We're looking for a seasoned transactional tax attorney to step into a senior seat on the firm's tax planning team. The right person has spent years actually building deal structures — not just reviewing them — and is comfortable carrying a matter from the first whiteboard sketch through to signed documents and execution. The role works hand in glove with the firm's corporate group and puts you directly in front of clients.

What You'll Be Doing

Structuring & Drafting

This is the heart of the job. You'll own the planning and the paper behind it, including:

  • Designing and standing up tax-efficient deal structures for acquisitions, sales, and reorganizations, including transactions intended to qualify as tax-free
  • Architecting layered entity structures spanning corporations and partnerships
  • Papering sophisticated partnership and operating agreements, including profits-interest arrangements
  • Handling qualified small business stock (Section 1202) analysis and supporting opinions
  • Running entity conversions, recapitalizations, and corporate reorganizations
  • Breaking big-picture plans into clear, step-by-step execution roadmaps
  • Keeping the moving pieces aligned when a deal involves several parties at once

    Working With Clients

  • Acting as a go-to advisor for clients on their most involved planning questions
  • Making dense tax concepts make sense to non-specialists, and connecting them to real decisions
  • Quarterbacking the work across clients, firm colleagues, and outside accountants and advisors
  • Earning trust and growing relationships that last well beyond a single engagement

    Leading the Team

  • Driving execution across internal teams and external partners on each strategy
  • Holding the bar high on quality and follow-through
  • Developing newer attorneys and support staff through hands-on guidance
  • Keeping outside advisor relationships healthy and productive

    Room to Grow

  • Helping expand a planning practice that already has a national reputation
  • Contributing to the firm's push into new regions
  • Having a real say in how the team is built and who joins it
  • A credible path toward leading the practice over time

    What We're Looking For

  • J.D. and active bar standing; a tax LL.M. is a plus but not required if the hands-on experience is there
  • Substantial tax experience, much of it spent drafting and structuring on transactions
  • A real builder, not a reviewer — someone who can run matters independently and own the result
  • Strong communicator who manages client and advisor relationships well and stays composed on complex, multi-party deals

Accounting-firm experience is welcome where it involved genuine planning work. Compliance-only backgrounds generally won't be a fit. Finalists may be asked for a deal sheet or redacted drafting sample.

    Compensation & Benefits

Competitive base salary plus a meaningful performance bonus tied to objective metrics — with no billable-hour requirement. Full details shared during the process.

    Benefits package includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage with significant employer contribution
  • Employer-paid life and disability coverage, plus optional voluntary plans
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Attorney student-loan assistance program
  • Generous paid time off, paid holidays, and covered bar dues and CLE
  • Hybrid schedule potential and clear room to advance
