Special Education Teacher in Oakland, CA

This full-time contract opportunity is an excellent fit for passionate educators dedicated to supporting students in a supportive special day class environment (SDC). With two available positions, you’ll play an essential role in fostering growth and resilience for transitional kindergarteners or kindergarten–first graders.

Qualifications:

• Valid and current California CTC certification in Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Special Education
• Previous experience working as a Special Education Teacher within school settings
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with families, support staff, and fellow educators
• Commitment to inclusive education, differentiated instruction, and evidence-based interventions
• A deep understanding of IEP development and progress monitoring
• Compassion, patience, and creativity in adapting curriculum and fostering social-emotional growth

Responsibilities:

• Create, implement, and manage individualized education programs (IEPs) for a diverse SDC caseload
• Design and deliver effective instruction tailored to each student’s needs and learning styles
• Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom for TK or K–1 students
• Collaborate with paraeducators, specialists, and general education staff
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies
• Track data and maintain all required documentation in compliance with state regulations
• Participate in school and district-level meetings and professional development opportunities
