Dental Office Front Desk
Job Description
The Front Desk is a vital role within a specialized dental practice focusing on periodontal and dental implant patients. The front desk position is the first point of contact for new and returning patients. This person must be able to project a knowledgeable, competent, and understanding image to patients, both in person and over the phone.
Patients are typically scheduled four days per week for the doctor and hygienist: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Initially the new employee would work several days per week along side the current, retiring front desk manager, to learn responsibilities, become comfortable with the office routine and computer system, and engage with the rest of the staff.
Responsibilities
- Manage reception and welcome patients
- Handle incoming phone calls with professionalism
- Schedule appointments using specialized scheduling software
- Perform accurate data entry using dental office management software
- Present doctor created treatment plans, fees, and payment responibilities to patients
- Collect and record fees for services from patients
- Submit and follow up patient insurance claims
- Transcribing doctor dictated reports to referring doctors and insurance companies
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficient in data entry
- Strong telephone etiquette and communication skills
- Comfortable working with computer applications, including specialized dental practice software
- Ability to properly type and format verbally recorded dictated letters and reports
- Dental office experience
Fee for service periodontal office. Providing periodontal and dental implant care to patients since 1981. One doctor, chariside assistant, two hygienists and one Front desk manager.
