Staff Tax Accountant

Bayerkohler, Ltd. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Champlin, Minnesota. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working with individuals and small businesses while building technical expertise in tax, accounting, and advisory services.

As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare tax returns, perform accounting services, assist with various compliance, and support tax planning initiatives. You will work closely with senior team members to deliver exceptional client service while continuing to develop your technical knowledge and professional skills.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare individual, partnership, S corporation, and C corporation income tax returns.
• Prepare bookkeeping, accounting, and monthly financial reporting for business clients.
• Assist with tax planning projections and year-round advisory engagements.
• Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax filings, including Forms 941, 940, W-2, and 1099 reporting.
• Prepare and file Minnesota Sales and Use Tax returns and other state compliance filings.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet accounts.
• Identify and communicate tax-saving opportunities and potential client issues to supervisors.
• Research tax questions and assist with resolving federal and state tax notices.
• Communicate professionally with clients to obtain information and answer routine questions.
• Assist with new client onboarding and implementation of accounting systems.
• Maintain organized workpapers and ensure compliance with firm quality standards.
• Collaborate with team members to improve internal processes and workflow efficiencies.
• Support other accounting, tax, and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
