We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Fleet Manager/Diesel Mechanic to lead our vehicle maintenance operations and oversee the efficient management of our fleet. Duties

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on diesel engines, heavy equipment, trailers and company vehicles using schematics and technical manuals.
  • Conduct repairs on transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension components, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and electrical systems utilizing hand tools and power tools.
  • Oversee the fabrication and assembly of custom equipment or modifications as needed for specialized machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or tractor-trailers.
  • Manage scheduled maintenance programs to maximize vehicle uptime and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Utilize automotive diagnostics tools to troubleshoot issues accurately and efficiently restore vehicles to optimal working condition.
  • Lead heavy lifting operations using appropriate equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, service history, parts inventory, and compliance documentation for all fleet vehicles.
  • Provide leadership in training team members on proper vehicle maintenance procedures and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician with dealership experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge across automotive repair, transmissions, brakes, steering, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, soldering, and equipment assembly.
  • Familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems related to vehicle climate control is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and service software.
  • Physical ability for heavy lifting and working in diverse environments; willingness to work flexible hours when needed.
