Mold Technician / Setup Operator

POS I T I O N S U M M A R Y
The Mold Technician / Setup Operator owns injection mold maintenance, changeovers, machine setup, and base preparation across the production floor. This role is accountable for all mold break coverage and base stow support as a permanent part of the position. When mold and setup work is not active, this role transitions to sub-assembly production support. The position requires mechanical aptitude, process discipline, and the ability to learn and retain hands-on procedures. Mold assembly and related processes are trained directly on the job by experienced personnel — candidates must be receptive to on-the-job instruction and capable of building skills through direct practice.
P R I M A R Y R E S P O N S I B I L I T I E S
—Perform scheduled and reactive injection mold maintenance, disassembly, inspection, and reassembly
— Execute mold changeovers and machine setups per job travelers and work instructions
— Perform welder setups, printer setups, and fixturing as directed
— Cover all mold breaks as assigned — core, permanent function of the role
— Fill mold bases, stage tooling, and prepare equipment for upcoming production runs
— Put mold bases away after use; maintain base inventory organization
— Complete job setup tasks including parameter verification and first-piece confirmation
— Operate forklift and powered industrial moving equipment as required
— Log all maintenance activity; flag abnormalities to supervisor immediately
— Transition to sub-assembly when mold and setup work is not active
— Maintain tooling and work area in clean, organized condition at all times
— Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards
— Perform all other duties as assigned or as needed to support production
R E Q U I R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S
— Demonstrated mechanical aptitude; ability to work with hand tools and precision components
— Ability to read and follow work instructions and job travelers
— Physical ability to lift upwards of 50 lbs; ability to work on feet for full shift
— Strong attention to detail; zero-tolerance mindset for shortcuts on mechanical assembly
— Willingness to learn forklift and powered industrial equipment operation — certification training provided in-house
— Reliable attendance and punctuality
— Ability to work effectively in a multilingual team environment
P R E F E R R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S
—Prior experience with injection molding equipment, mold maintenance, or machine setup
— Familiarity with mold components — cores, cavities, ejector systems
— Current forklift certification or prior powered industrial equipment experience
— Experience reading part prints or tooling documentation
— English-speaking ability is a plus

Technician, Senior Tech, or cross-functional roles in process engineering or quality as the department grows.
