Aerospace Metal Finishing/Coatings

Position Summary

Performs routine laboratory testing and process-control activities to support anodizing, chemical conversion coating, plating, and related aerospace finishing operations. Maintains accurate records and promptly reports out-of-range or abnormal conditions.

Primary Responsibilities

· Collect process-tank samples and perform titrations, pH, conductivity, specific-gravity, and other required analyses.

· Record test results, chemical additions, adjustments, and observations in controlled tank logs.

· Prepare reagents, standards, test panels, and coupons in accordance with approved procedures.

· Perform process-solution testing, prepare test panels and samples, and assist with laboratory testing as assigned and authorized.

· Verify laboratory and inspection equipment is clean, serviceable, and within calibration before use.

· Report out-of-range results immediately and perform follow-up testing after authorized adjustments.

· Maintain chemical labels, reagent expiration controls, laboratory housekeeping, and proper waste handling.

· Support audits, corrective actions, test reports, and other quality-system documentation as assigned.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent; chemistry, laboratory, manufacturing, or quality-control coursework preferred.

· Laboratory or metal-finishing experience preferred; training may be provided for a qualified candidate.

· Ability to follow written procedures, perform basic calculations, and maintain accurate, traceable records.

· Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and email.

· Strong attention to detail, dependability, and ability to communicate with laboratory, quality, and production personnel.

Safety and Physical Requirements

Must be able to work safely around acids, alkalizes, solvents, heated tanks, and production equipment; wear required personal protective equipment; stand for extended periods; and lift up to approximately 30-50 lb.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Laboratory Engineer/Chemist, Laboratory Manager, Quality Manager, or other designated management representative.

Record Integrity: Test results shall never be estimated, altered, or entered without objective evidence that the test was performed. Missed tests, questionable results, and equipment problems must be reported immediately.
