Job Description
The Senior Accountant will be primarily responsible for managing general ledger accounts including fixed assets, preparing financial statements, conducting financial analysis, real estate & personal property taxes, reconciling accounts, assisting with sales & use tax filings, lease accounting, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting for a high-growth subsidiary of the Company. The Senior Accountant will also be primarily responsible for the month-end and year-end close processes and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations of this subsidiary.
- Prepare month-end close journal entries
- Complete balance sheet and profit and loss account reconciliations and analysis during month-end close as assigned
- Perform close administration – maintain journal entry checklist, account reconciliation checklist, & secondary review checklist
- Account reviews and analyses throughout the month and posting of transactions
- General ledger integrity reports and validations
- Prepare state and local tax filings, personal property tax filings, licenses, and registrations for business operations
- Perform cash management functions, including but not limited to daily bank deposits, weekly payment processing, & research on transactions
- Record property transactions including but not limited to rent and related expenses, utilities, insurance, and other transactions on a weekly and monthly basis as necessary
- Perform lease administration and review in accordance with ASC 842
- Manage property and equipment, goodwill, and intangibles
- Oversee expense report and purchasing card processes
- Work closely with accounting generalists, other staff & senior accountants, and accounts payable team members
- Crosstrain with other accountants to ensure flow of tasks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA certification or CPA eligible is a plus
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Experience in financial analysis
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
