Job Overview

​We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant (NA/CNA/AUA) to join our clinical team at Okeene Municipal Hospital. In this role, you will work closely with our Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to deliver direct, high-quality patient care. You will be an essential part of our clinical workflow, ensuring our patients feel welcomed, safe, and well-cared for during their stay.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • Direct Patient Care & Communication:
    • ​Welcome patients and visitors in a prompt, professional, and compassionate manner.
    • ​Continuously communicate patient condition updates and any changes in status to the primary RN throughout your shift.
    • ​Provide care tailored to ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally distressed patients with empathy and respect.
  • Clinical Documentation & Compliance:
    • ​Accurately and completely document all patient care provided in the EPIC electronic health record system.
    • ​Ensure correct two-identifier patient identification prior to providing care or performing tasks.
    • ​Maintain strict compliance with Patient Rights, HIPAA guidelines, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Safety & Environment:
    • ​Understand and fulfill your role in Emergency Preparedness procedures and safety drills.
    • ​Promptly report any hazardous conditions, equipment issues, or safety concerns.
    • ​Ensure visitors and staff adhere to facility policies and safety guidelines.
    • ​Perform light housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary patient environment.
  • Professional Growth & Teamwork:
    • ​Participate in orientation programs and ongoing continuing education opportunities.
    • ​Collaborate effectively across all hospital departments to support seamless patient care.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certifications:

  • ​High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • ​Active CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) or AUA (Advanced Unlicensed Assistant) certification.
  • ​Current CPR / BLS certification.
  • Note: Unlicensed Assistant skills will be validated upon hire and annually via an internal Skills Checklist.

Skills & Abilities:

  • ​Basic proficiency with computers, electronic medical record (EMR) systems (EPIC experience is a plus), and office equipment (fax, phone, copier).
  • ​Basic understanding of medical-legal principles and patient privacy laws.
  • ​Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate respectfully with patients, families, providers, and community partners.
  • ​High level of personal integrity, reliability, and emotional maturity.

Physical Requirements:

  • ​Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and move continuously throughout an 8- to 12-hour shift.
  • ​Ability to push, pull, lift, and move equipment or objects weighing 50 lbs. or more.
