Field Equipment Mechanic

Schedule: Monday-Friday with weekend on-call rotation

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Rental Fleet Mechanic to inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair a fleet of rental equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working on diesel and gas-powered equipment, and a commitment to safety, quality, and minimizing equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on rental fleet equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related issues.
• Conduct equipment inspections before and after rentals.
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline-powered engines.
• Maintain detailed service and repair records.
• Ensure all equipment meets company safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and minor body repairs as needed.
• Coordinate parts ordering and inventory management.
• Respond to field service calls when required.
• Keep the shop and work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Communicate equipment status and repair needs to management.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of mechanical repair experience.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment maintenance.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to operate diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.

Preferred:

• Technical school or diesel mechanic certification.
• Experience with construction, oilfield, agricultural, or rental equipment.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
