Job Summary:
The General Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of mechanical equipment on petroleum and propane vehicles. This role requires strong diagnostic skills, a solid understanding of mechanical systems, and the ability to perform both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company procedures.
- Order and replace worn or damaged parts and components.
- Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functionality.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Proven experience as a mechanic (automotive, industrial, or general equipment).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and repair tools.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift 75#.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Basic understanding of safety standards and procedures.
- Must live within 20 miles of Limerick, PA.
- Must have a valid drivers license with No DWI/DUI convictions.
- Must be able to pass a background check and a drug screen.
- Position is in a DOT Cargo tank facility and subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
- Must be a US citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification (e.g., ASE for automotive electrical or equivalent).
- Experience with both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of computerized diagnostic systems.
- Welding or fabrication skills (optional but beneficial).
Working Conditions:
- May work in workshops, garages, or industrial environments.
- Exposure to noise, grease, machinery, and various weather conditions.
- May require standing, bending, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be available.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs (or more depending on role).
- Prolonged standing, walking, and manual labor.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
