Job Summary:
The General Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of mechanical equipment on petroleum and propane vehicles. This role requires strong diagnostic skills, a solid understanding of mechanical systems, and the ability to perform both preventive maintenance and emergency repairs to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Order and replace worn or damaged parts and components.
  • Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper functionality.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.


Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Proven experience as a mechanic (automotive, industrial, or general equipment).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and repair tools.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift 75#.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Basic understanding of safety standards and procedures.
  • Must live within 20 miles of Limerick, PA.
  • Must have a valid drivers license with No DWI/DUI convictions.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and a drug screen.
  • Position is in a DOT Cargo tank facility and subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must be a US citizen.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification (e.g., ASE for automotive electrical or equivalent).
  • Experience with both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of computerized diagnostic systems.
  • Welding or fabrication skills (optional but beneficial).

Working Conditions:
  • May work in workshops, garages, or industrial environments.
  • Exposure to noise, grease, machinery, and various weather conditions.
  • May require standing, bending, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend work may be available.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs (or more depending on role).
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and manual labor.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
