Job Summary
Safety and Security Representatives provide essential support to direct care providers by maintaining the supervision and safety of the individuals in our care. Focused on the safety and well-being of youth, they engage patients in problem-solving safety concerns and assist with daily activities and therapeutic needs. Representatives model safe, positive behavior and utilize trauma-informed problem-solving skills to foster a secure environment. They are responsible for adhering to the Employee Manual, Operations Manual, and organizational policies. If necessary, they may act in a Lead Capacity during the absence of a Program Manager or Team Supervisor, depending on staffing requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) from an accredited institution

Licensure/Certification:

• Valid Driver’s license and auto insurance with good record

Experience:

At least one year related experience and/or training; requires Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as Outlook email

Preferred Experience/Skills:

Experience working in a behavioral health setting or related field focused on serving individuals through the use of trauma informed and person centered approaches. Experience engaging individuals experience behavioral health crisis is preferred.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Therapeutic Milieu: Assist with patient needs, daily unit routines, therapeutic activities, and maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
  • Provide Patient Engagement and Supervision: Build positive relationships with youth through active supervision, engagement, encouragement, and trauma-informed support.
  • Promote Positive Behavior: Model professionalism, calm communication, respect, and effective problem-solving to reinforce healthy behaviors and support treatment goals.
  • Support Individualized Care: Follow individualized treatment plans, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and provide supports that promote patient success and well-being.
  • Respond to Safety Concerns: Identify environmental hazards, assist with behavioral crisis intervention, and respond as part of the treatment team using established clinical protocols and emergency response procedures.
  • Assist with Daily Operations: Support unit responsibilities such as patient movement, transportation, meal preparation, laundry, and other tasks that contribute to a therapeutic environment.
  • Maintain Accurate Documentation: Complete required documentation, reports, and patient observations accurately and in a timely manner while following agency policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Team Collaboration and Professional Development: Attend required meetings and trainings, maintain compliance with organizational policies, and contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered culture.

Additional duties may be assigned based on organizational needs and staff qualifications.

Physical & Work Environment
This role involves a mix of standing, walking, and occasional lifting, along with regular use of office equipment. You’ll work in a professional office setting with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
