Mechanic:

Mechanic is responsible for all maintenance of the TD&I fleet of vehicles, trailers, and equipment. Ensures the fleet receives regular maintenance and executes emergency/on-the-road repairs.

Communicates with team of mechanics and management on strategies for improving maintenance efficiency and reducing vehicle downtime. Ability to travel to other office locations and/or job sites to assist with vehicle, trailer, and equipment repairs.

Responsibilities:

  • Documents information of all maintenance or repairs using the designated fleet management system
  • Service pick-up trucks, semis, plows, drills, mud suckers, aerial equipment, mini excavators, skid steers, trailers, water truck systems, etc. (Vermeer, Ditch Witch, Bobcat)
  • Performs regular preventive maintenance, including annual DOT inspection
  • Assesses vehicles and machinery to properly diagnose and repair issues
  • Accurately, timely, and cost-effectively orders parts for repairs
  • Coordinates with outside vendors to arrange preventive maintenance and repair services when needed
  • Maintains and cleans garage equipment and tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition
  • Assists with various shop tasks – welding, fabrication, forklift needs, lot organization, snow removal, building maintenance, customer service, etc.


Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanic (automotive and diesel)
  • Valid DOT Medical Card to operate a commercial vehicle (10,000 lbs. or under), CDL license is a bonus or willing to obtain
  • Certified to DOT vehicles and equipment
  • Forklift certification or ability to become forklift certified
  • Understand hydraulics, which involves transmitting power and controlling machinery through pressurized fluid (typically oil).
  • Knowledge of electrical systems to troubleshoot and repair issues related to wiring, sensors, and electronic components.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate and report effectively, problem solving abilities
  • Good physical condition and stamina, able to work indoors and outdoors
  • Personal computer (PC) experience and familiarity with Microsoft platforms (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
