Lumber Yard Loader/Tie Down Strapper

Connect Staffing is hiring a Loader for a lumber yard in Huntington Beach, CA. This is a temp-to-hire position paying $20.53/hr with weekly overtime required. In this role, you will strap and bind bundles of lumber and panels, apply corner boards and protective materials, and assist forklift operators with loading and unloading in an outdoor yard environment. This is a Monday–Saturday schedule with steady hours and approximately 8 hours of overtime per week.

Schedule: Monday–Saturday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Use strapping tools and various strapping materials to tightly bind bundles of lumber, panels, and other products into secure loads.
• Apply corner boards and protective materials to prevent straps from damaging lumber during handling and transit.
• Position straps correctly to prevent load shifting, sliding, or falling.
• Assist forklift operators with loading and unloading lumber and materials, ensuring secure placement on equipment and in storage.
• Inspect straps, tools, and strapping equipment for wear, damage, or malfunction before and during use.
• Follow lumber yard safety regulations and material handling best practices throughout the yard.

Minimum Requirements

• 6+ months of experience in general labor or a lumber yard environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience strapping, banding, or securing loads in a lumber yard, building materials, or distribution environment.
• Familiarity with steel strapping, poly strapping, or ratchet strap tools.
• Experience working alongside forklift operators or in an active yard with heavy equipment traffic.
• Knowledge of load securement standards or lumber handling best practices.
• Ability to read and follow basic written work instructions or load sheets.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
