Addison Group is partnering with our client to identify a Leave & Benefits Specialist who will play a key role in supporting employee leave programs and benefits operations. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented HR professional who enjoys guiding employees through leave processes while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and exceptional customer service.

Job Description:

The Leave & Benefits Specialist serves as a resource for employees and leaders regarding leave programs, benefits-related questions, and payroll impacts associated with employee absences. This role collaborates closely with HR, Benefits, and Payroll teams to ensure leave requests are administered efficiently, documentation is maintained accurately, and applicable policies and regulations are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a primary contact for employees and managers regarding leave of absence and benefits-related questions.
  • Coordinate leave requests from initial intake through return-to-work, ensuring all required documentation is collected and maintained.
  • Provide guidance on leave procedures, timelines, eligibility requirements, and available resources.
  • Monitor leave balances, usage trends, and compliance deadlines, including FMLA tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation for leave cases, ensuring audit readiness and data integrity.
  • Support return-to-work processes and verify completion of required certifications or approvals.
  • Partner with HR leadership to review complex leave situations and assist with policy interpretation.
  • Update and maintain leave tracking systems, payroll-related adjustments, and benefit status changes.
  • Assist with benefits administration activities, including reconciliation and related reporting functions.
  • Collaborate with Payroll and Benefits teams to ensure accurate processing of leave-related impacts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in Human Resources, Benefits Administration, Leave Administration, or Payroll.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, candidates with 6+ years of related HR benefits or payroll experience will be considered.
  • Experience supporting employee leave programs, benefits administration, or payroll functions.
  • Strong understanding of HR and benefits processes and applicable employment regulations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, data validation, and reconciliation functions.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms and employee data systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research discrepancies and resolve issues effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe.

Additional Details:

  • Experience with leave administration programs such as FMLA, ADA accommodations, military leave, or similar programs is highly preferred.
  • Background in benefits billing reconciliation or payroll-related processes is a plus.
  • Experience within higher education, government, or public-sector environments is beneficial.
  • Candidates with strong payroll experience and transferable leave administration responsibilities may be considered even if they do not meet all preferred qualifications.
