SCHEDULED HOURS 24/7, 365 Residential Men and Women’s home

12 hour - weekend/night shifts Friday-Sunday


COMPENSATION RANGE: $17.50 per hour


REPORTS TO Manager, Life Skills/Residential Services


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Team Members for the mid-barrier shelter program at C-U at Home are responsible to create and manage a safe and healthy residential space for our community’s most vulnerable residents.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Possess a genuine compassion for and desire to serve the homeless and those in need
  • Monitor residents and enforce rule to ensure safety, general health, and wellness
  • Maintain a peaceful, safe, and comfortable environment
  • Provide conversation should the need arise and direct guests to appropriate services
  • Maintain confidentiality, strictly guarding all guests’ privacy
  • Remain calm under pressure and practice appropriate de-escalation techniques
  • Ensure guest safety by contacting appropriate first responders as necessary
  • Ensure that situations that jeopardize the safety of the homes and its guests are handled appropriately including ensuring guests are not using drugs, alcohol, or weapons on the premises
  • Handle crisis situations in a calm manner, communicating with Manager for guidance and/or direction when necessary
  • Maintain organization of all data, documents and necessary records and paperwork; including but not limited to incident reports and case notes in case management software.


Requirements:

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Human Services or related field desired and/or life experience
  • 2+ years past experience working with homeless adults or clients with substance abuse and/or mental health concerns
  • Must be willing to provide support, advocacy and develop relationships following harm reduction principles with a very diverse homeless population, including Spanish speaking immigrants, day laborers, women, LGBT, African Americans, active drug users and people with mental illness and other disabilities.
  • Ability to work with de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution and emergency response.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and confidential information
  • Good judgment and flexibility
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google tools and database technology tools
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
