Job Summary

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and/or residential electrical projects. This role requires detailed plan review, strong knowledge of electrical systems, and close coordination with project management, vendors, and clients to support successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements

  • Perform detailed material takeoffs and labor estimates for electrical systems

  • Prepare complete and accurate bid proposals, including pricing, alternates, and value engineering options

  • Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors

  • Identify potential risks, omissions, and constructability issues during the estimating phase

  • Maintain current knowledge of material pricing, labor rates, and market conditions

  • Collaborate with project managers and field personnel during handoff and throughout the project lifecycle

  • Track bid results and maintain estimating databases and historical cost data

  • Assist with change order pricing as needed

  • Ensure estimates comply with project specifications, codes, and company standards

Qualifications

  • Experienced in electrical estimating or electrical construction

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, methods, and materials

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and one-line diagrams

  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Trimble), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple bids and meet tight deadlines

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with commercial and/or industrial electrical projects

  • Knowledge of NEC and local electrical codes

  • Experience with negotiated work, design-build, or public sector projects

  • Familiarity with project management processes and cost controls

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Primarily office-based with occasional job site visits

  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
