Position Title: Behavioral Health ClinicianDepartment: Behavioral HealthSalary Grade: 1018 Per Class CodePosition Status: Full-TimeFLSA Status: Non-ExemptPosition SummaryThe Santa Clara Pueblo Behavior Health Department provides services to youth, adults, and their familiesthrough Substance Abuse/Mental Health services. The Clinician, under direct supervision of the Director, provides a range ofpsychosocial/substance abuse assessments, provides individual sessions, facilitates psychoeducationgroups, and/or case management services for the program clientele. This position works with a multidisciplinaryteam and the Director to implement and maintain all therapeutic models that will meet theneeds of the population being served. This position may provide clinical training and guidance to staff orother project stakeholders, as needed.This job description is illustrative only of the responsibilities performed by this position and is not an allinclusivelist of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel in this classification. Duties,responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conducts substance abuse assessments and/ or mental health assessments of all assignedindividuals referred to the Behavioral Health Program. Will maintain confidentiality and follow all HIPPA and 42 CFR Part 2 guidelines to assure the securityof all records, documents, personal contact, and client information. Any confidential informationobtained will not be re-disclosed and will be protected per federal law. Will complete all required screening tools, psychosocial assessments, and clinical interviews toappropriately diagnosis. Will be required to complete all clinical documentation on a timely basis. Must have knowledge of utilizing the DSM criteria and ICD-9 codes. Required to participate in weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings to complete case reviews anddiscuss best practice approaches to support the treatment program for the individual client. The multidisciplinaryteam will review all identified diagnosis, problems, goals, objectives, and interventions. Conducts individual therapy/counseling sessions to address diagnosis, problems, goals, objectives,and interventions associated with substance use disorders and other mental health disorders. Conducts therapeutic group sessions for substance abuse/mental health clients and assists indeveloping healthy lifestyles and establishing/maintaining recovery skills. Works with the multi-disciplinary team to coordinate submission of information for third party billing. Completes discharge summaries and aftercare plans on a timely basis. Must complete monthly reports to all community resources who have referred clients to the program. Provides consultation to the Behavioral Health Department staff, medical, community programs andother staff as appropriate. Provides quality and culturally appropriate services for all clients and their families in a therapeuticenvironment. Will work with the multi-disciplinary team to coordinate therapeutic activities and group educationsessions in Santa Clara pueblo. i.e. recovery groups and community education. Participates in, leads, and/or coordinates training sessions and workshops to enhance treatmentskills. Provides crisis intervention, assessment, and consultation as needed, and will serve as anemergency "on call". Maintains certification as a provider to deliver specific services in addressing Gambling Disorders. Conducts community education on Mental Health issues as needed. Performs other duties as assigned or required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of and ability to use community resources. Knowledge of all funding agency requirements. Knowledge of substance abuse/mental health assessments, scoring, and interpretations. Knowledge of cultural sensitivity with interviewing individuals and their families. Strong interpersonal and communications skills both verbally and in writing. The ability to work effectively with age groups. Ability to consistently establish positive relationships with all community programs. Ability to work with clients in different treatment milieus in a supportive, and nonjudgmental manner. Must maintain strict client confidentiality and professional ethics. Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and to make individual modifications. Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses. Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights. Self-motivated and able to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.Minimum Qualifications Must be licensed as a Licensed Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA), Licensed Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) Must have 2 years of experience working with Substance Abuse/Mental Health populations.Must follow all ACA Code of Ethics as outlined by the State of New Mexico Counseling and Therapy Board. Must obtain Responsible Gambling certification through the State of New Mexico.
