Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor

Description:

Play a crucial role in helping those who are struggling with addiction to regain control of their lives through structured and empathetic support in a recovery housing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine the extent and nature of their addiction.

  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans tailored to each client's specific needs.

  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to support clients in their recovery efforts.

  • Monitor clients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.

  • Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other professionals involved in the client's care.

  • Educate clients and their families about the nature of addiction and effective coping strategies.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation.

  • Facilitate support group meetings and foster a supportive community environment.

  • Assist clients in developing skills and strategies to prevent relapse.

  • Advocate for clients and connect them with community resources and services.

  • Perform individual substance abuse evaluations as required.

Required Skills:

  • Experience working in a clinical setting, particularly with addiction treatment.

  • Strong understanding of the principles of addiction recovery and therapeutic techniques.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

  • Knowledge of addiction recovery principles and techniques.

  • Strong empathy and compassion for individuals struggling with addiction.

  • Effective communication and active listening skills.

  • Ability to build trust and rapport with clients.

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.

Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

  • Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor (LSAC) credential or equivalent.

  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) certification or equivalent.
