Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor
Description:
Play a crucial role in helping those who are struggling with addiction to regain control of their lives through structured and empathetic support in a recovery housing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine the extent and nature of their addiction.
Develop and implement personalized treatment plans tailored to each client's specific needs.
Provide individual and group therapy sessions to support clients in their recovery efforts.
Monitor clients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other professionals involved in the client's care.
Educate clients and their families about the nature of addiction and effective coping strategies.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation.
Facilitate support group meetings and foster a supportive community environment.
Assist clients in developing skills and strategies to prevent relapse.
Advocate for clients and connect them with community resources and services.
Perform individual substance abuse evaluations as required.
Required Skills:
Experience working in a clinical setting, particularly with addiction treatment.
Strong understanding of the principles of addiction recovery and therapeutic techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Knowledge of addiction recovery principles and techniques.
Strong empathy and compassion for individuals struggling with addiction.
Effective communication and active listening skills.
Ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor (LSAC) credential or equivalent.
Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) certification or equivalent.
