At Studebaker Electric, Inc., we specialize in public infrastructure and heavy civil electrical work, including airfield lighting, roadway lighting & signals, and underground utilities. We’re looking for an estimator who can develop accurate, competitive bids from start to finish. You’ll be a key part of a growing company, working on complex public works projects, with the opportunity to take real ownership of your work and make an impact. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Own bids start to finish
  • Review plans, specs, and addenda to fully understand project scope
  • Produce complete takeoffs in a clean, consistent, organized format
  • Develop accurate estimates in HeavyBid from start to finish
  • Identify scope gaps, conflicts, and risks; ask the right questions early
  • Proactively engage with General Contractors to clarify scope, resolve ambiguities, and ensure proper coordination of our work within the overall project
  • Solicit and level subcontractor quotes
  • Procure and analyze material pricing
  • Evaluate multiple means & methods to build the job most efficiently
  • Incorporate local conditions (labor rates, night work, access constraints, etc.)
  • Prepare and submit bids on time
  • Continuously improve estimate quality, organization, and processes

Qualifications & Skills Requirements:

  • Experience as an estimator in electrical, heavy civil, or underground utilities is preferred
  • Experience with HeavyBid is preferred
  • Proficient in Bluebeam
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Organized and able to follow structured estimating systems
  • Effective communicator who can escalate questions appropriately
  • Strong computer skills and overall technical proficiency
