Now Hiring: Special Education Teachers

We are seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers for multiple full-time openings for the 2026–2027 school year. Opportunities are available across a variety of self-contained classroom settings serving students with diverse learning, behavioral, and support needs.

Available Program OpeningsCognitive Impairments (CI)

Students with cognitive impairments

  • 7th Grade
  • 8th Grade

Emotional Regulation Impairment (ERI)

Students requiring behavioral and emotional support

  • Grades 3–5
  • Grades 9–10

Learning Disabilities (Cross-Categorical)

Students with learning disabilities in a self-contained setting

  • 7th Grade
  • 8th Grade (Multiple Openings)

Moderately Cognitively Impaired (MCI)

Students with moderate cognitive impairments

  • Grades 9–10
  • Grade 11
  • Grade 12

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 1

Students functioning on grade level with minimal support needs

  • Grades 3–5
  • Grades 9–12

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 2

Students requiring a moderate level of support

  • Grades 1–2
  • Grades 7–8

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 3

Students requiring intensive behavioral and educational support

  • Grades K–2
  • Grades 3–5
  • Grades 6–8

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals
  • Manage and support self-contained special education classrooms
  • Collaborate with related service providers and support staff
  • Participate in IEP meetings and progress monitoring
  • Maintain compliance with state and district requirements
  • Foster academic, behavioral, social, and functional growth

Support & Resources

  • Special Education case management support
  • Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultants (LDTCs) available
  • Newly expanded behavioral support team
  • Lower student-to-teacher ratios in many specialized programs
  • District-developed curriculum and instructional resources

Qualifications

must hold:

  • New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) endorsement or
  • New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH) endorsement

AND

A valid New Jersey primary teaching certification aligned with the grade level and/or subject area being taught.
