  • Visible Position
    Report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Serve as a key financial voice in executive leadership discussions, contributing to high-level strategic and operational decisions
  • Leadership
    Serve as the primary on-site finance leader, owning day-to-day accounting operations while leading a team that includes - Revenue Cycle Director, Fiscal Director, Accounting Manager and 2 AP Staff
  • Build & Strengthen the Finance Function
    Assess current team structure and processes, implementing improvements that elevate performance, accountability, and financial discipline
  • Strategic Collaboration with CFO Advisory Partner
    Collaborate with an experienced CFO advisory firm, gaining exposure to high-level strategy while maintaining operational ownership internally
  • Systems Implementation & Optimization
    Drive execution of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and inventory system implementation, ensuring adoption, reporting clarity, and system optimization
  • Build a Revenue Cycle Team
    Funds have been allocated for the recruitment of a Revenue Cycle Director pending the hire of the organization's next Controller. The Controller will recruit and hire a Revenue Cycle Director and oversee the process of bringing billing/coding in-house (currently outsourced to 3rd party services provider)
  • Process Improvement & Financial Transparency
    Influence process improvement across the organization, refining chart of accounts, reporting structure, and financial transparency
  • Proactive Revenue Leadership
    Move finance beyond historical reporting by driving forward-looking cash flow visibility, revenue forecasting, and operational oversight
  • Shift Finance from Reactive to Predictive
    Drive proactive revenue oversight and cash management, positioning finance as a strategic engine rather than a historical reporting function


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures the timely & accurate preparation and dissemination of all internal and external financial reports, including financial statements, income statements, and cash flow reports
  • Leads and mentors the fiscal team, supervision functions like accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing and general ledger maintenance
  • Coordinates the preparation of annual and monthly grant budgets and financial forecasts, for the entire organization and by health center site and department, noting and explaining variances, and providing timely reports to leadership
  • Coordinates the preparation and timely completion of federal, state, and other grant applications with other members of the senior team
  • Develops and enforces policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and grant requirements
  • Manages regulatory reporting, including Medicare, Medicaid, private insurers and tax filings (federal, state and local), and 340B.
  • Maintains an accurate general ledger of all subsidiary accounts on a current basis
  • Oversees cash flow to maintain a stable a cash position and to ensure available cash for disbursements
  • Oversees patient billing, medical coding accuracy, and collections to ensure efficient cash flow from insurance companies and patients
  • Oversees preparation of the Medicaid wraparound and ensures report is completed accurately and timely
  • Ensures FQHC report is completed accurately and on time
  • Coordinates audits by gathering records for both standard financial and administrative healthcare specific audits, communicates with external auditors and manages levels of audit adjustments
  • Stay current on the business, economic and technical aspects of financial management through attendance at seminars, association meetings, and training sessions
  • Partners with clinical and operational leaders to provide strategic financial analysis and plans that improve health center performances, establishes measurable goals and objectives
  • Provides financial insights and data analysis to the CFO or executive team to support strategic decision-making
  • Perform other related tasks assigned by the CFO or CEO


Background Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Healthcare experience is required
  • CPA is valued (active license a plus)
  • 5-10+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience
  • Proven experience managing an accounting team and overseeing financial systems
  • Demonstrated ownership of the full budget cycle (development, tracking, variance analysis)
  • Strong background in general ledger oversight and month-end/year-end close
  • Experience with financial modeling, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles, including strong balance sheet oversight
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with ERP systems and payroll platforms
  • Experience coordinating audits, managing financial reporting, and overseeing grant accounting
  • Hands-on leadership style; capable of operating in a fast-paced, regulated environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-support capabilities
  • Effective communicator with the ability to partner across departments
  • Demonstrated leadership in project management, process improvement, and team development
  • High integrity, accountability, and ethical standards
