Senior Tax Planning CPA
Job Description
Senior Tax Associate / Tax Advisor - HNW / Private Client Tax Planning
$120,000- $180,000 | South Tampa, FL | No Tax Prep / Seasonal Filing
Our client is a boutique, SEC-registered wealth management and virtual family office firm serving high-net-worth business owners, entrepreneurs, and families, typically in the $25M-$100M asset range. The firm takes an integrated approach to wealth management, bringing together tax planning, investment management, estate planning, and legal strategy around each client.
They are seeking a technically strong tax professional who can bring a solid foundation in individual, business, partnership, corporate, or pass-through taxation and continue developing their expertise in HNW tax planning and advisory.
The firm is open to different levels of experience- from a strong Senior Tax Associate ready to develop into a planning-focused advisor to an experienced Tax Manager who can take on more sophisticated planning responsibilities immediately.
This is a planning-focused role- not a traditional tax compliance position. There is no high-volume tax preparation or seasonal filing workload, and the position maintains a standard 40-hour work week throughout the year.
What You'll Do
- Review tax returns, financial statements, and client information to identify proactive tax planning opportunities
- Research, evaluate, and help implement tax-efficient strategies for HNW individuals and business owners
- Advise on business entities, partnerships, S corporations, real estate holdings, and multi-entity structures
- Gain exposure to advanced strategies involving QSBS / Section 1202, charitable giving, real estate taxation, wealth transfer, and estate planning
- Participate directly in client strategy meetings
- Collaborate with financial advisors, attorneys, estate planning professionals, and outside CPAs
- Monitor changes in federal tax law and identify new planning opportunities for clients
- Develop broader expertise in advanced tax planning through hands-on mentorship and CPE-supported professional development
What We're Looking For
- Approximately 4+ years of progressive tax experience; exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered
- Strong technical foundation in individual, business, partnership, corporate, or pass-through taxation
- Experience reviewing and/or preparing complex returns such as 1040, 1041, 1065, and 1120S is highly relevant
- Some exposure to tax planning, tax advisory, private client services, HNW clients, business owners, trusts/estates, or complex entity structures
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred
- CPA preferred, but not required for candidates with strong technical tax experience or those actively pursuing licensure
- Strong communication skills and an interest in working directly with sophisticated clients
- Curious, analytical mindset with an interest in researching and developing creative, technically sound tax strategies
- Desire to build a long-term career in tax planning and advisory rather than compliance
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Move from compliance into proactive tax planning and advisory
- No traditional tax-season grind or high-volume return preparation
- Direct exposure to HNW/UHNW clients and business owners
- Work alongside tax professionals, financial advisors, and estate planning attorneys
- Hands-on mentorship and CPE-supported professional development
- Exposure to sophisticated planning strategies that may not be available in a traditional public accounting role
- Clear opportunity to deepen your advisory expertise and grow with a boutique firm
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $120,000–$180,000, depending on experience, technical depth, and level
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off
- CPE-supported professional development and continuing education
