Location: Coos Bay, OR
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: 12-hour shifts | 72 hours per 2-week pay period
Weekend/On-Call: Possible

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department to join a healthcare team in Coos Bay, Oregon. The RN will provide high-quality patient care within the scope of practice defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing and work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Provide compassionate and safe nursing care to emergency department patients.
  • Respond effectively to patient crises and emergency situations.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding care and treatment.
  • Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Prioritize and adapt to rapidly changing patient and unit needs.
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Oregon.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Recent Emergency Department nursing experience.
  • Recent acute care hospital experience within the past 5 years.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Computer proficiency and experience with electronic medical records.

Preferred Certifications

  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – or obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurses’ Association Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) – or obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) – or obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or equivalent national emergency nursing certification.
  • SAFE class or approved workplace violence training – or obtain within 6 months of hire.
