Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Calibration Engineer to manage and continuously improve our calibration program supporting a growing manufacturing operation. This position will play a critical role in ensuring production tooling and measurement equipment remain calibrated, compliant, and available to support manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have experience managing calibration systems within a manufacturing environment, coordinating third-party calibration vendors, maintaining ISO-compliant documentation, and performing basic in-house calibrations. Experience with Atlas Copco smart tooling, torque wrench calibration, or other smart tool technologies is highly preferred.
Job Duties:
- Manage the site's calibration program for manufacturing tooling, gauges, and inspection equipment.
- Coordinate all calibration activities to ensure tools remain certified and production downtime is minimized.
- Schedule, track, and manage recurring calibration requirements using calibration management software.
- Maintain complete electronic and physical calibration records to support ISO compliance and customer audits.
- Coordinate third-party calibration vendors, obtain quotations, secure approvals, process purchase requisitions, and track purchase orders.
- Perform in-house calibration of torque wrenches and other approved tooling.
- Learn and eventually become the site's subject matter expert for Atlas Copco torque tool calibration.
- Assist with implementation of new calibration equipment and master standards.
- Develop calibration procedures, work instructions, and standardized processes for future in-house calibration capabilities.
- Evaluate calibration certificates and verify equipment meets specification requirements.
- Manage failed calibrations, lost tooling, expired certifications, and corrective actions.
- Maintain calibration labels and ensure all production tools remain within calibration dates.
- Support implementation of backup tooling and calibration planning to minimize production interruptions.
- Work closely with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Maintenance teams to support manufacturing operations.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality requirements and internal quality management systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling management and calibration processes.
Qualifications:
- 3–5+ years of calibration experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing calibration programs for production tooling and measurement equipment.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems and calibration documentation requirements.
- Experience with Atlas CopCo Smart Tools or torque tool calibration strongly preferred.
- Experience coordinating third-party calibration vendors.
- Ability to interpret calibration certificates and verify equipment conformance.
- Experience maintaining calibration databases and documentation systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and recurring deadlines.
- Excellent written communication skills with experience developing procedures and work instructions.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform in-house calibrations.
