Special Loans Administrator
Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Special Loans Administrator to support specialized mortgage servicing activities in northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will handle a range of complex loan administration tasks, ensure servicing records remain accurate, and help resolve borrower, client, and internal inquiries. This position plays an important part in maintaining compliance with servicing standards, investor requirements, and client expectations while delivering dependable operational support.
Responsibilities:
• Manage approved loan changes such as modifications, assumptions, subordinations, recasts, and other non-routine servicing updates while ensuring records are properly maintained.
• Oversee adjustable-rate mortgage servicing by reviewing rate changes, maintaining index information, issuing borrower notices, and addressing exceptions that arise.
• Support billing-related administration through statement activity, account updates, research of discrepancies, and follow-up on servicing exceptions.
• Complete loan maintenance work, documentation updates, and specialized account transactions in line with company procedures and servicing guidelines.
• Conduct detailed account analysis, payment reconstruction, and balancing activities to identify issues and support accurate loan servicing.
• Respond to borrower, client, and internal questions regarding special loan activity, providing clear information and timely resolution.
• Coordinate with outside parties such as attorneys, title companies, and investors, as well as internal departments, to move specialized servicing requests forward.
• Process compliance and documentation tasks including residency verification, borrower affidavits, filing renewals, and related servicing records management.
• Contribute to quality review efforts by identifying inconsistencies, researching root causes, and assisting with corrective action.
• At least 1 year of experience in mortgage servicing, loan administration, banking operations, financial services operations, or a related customer support environment.• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional college coursework or an associate degree is preferred.
• Working knowledge of mortgage servicing concepts, with exposure to areas such as loan modifications, assumptions, subordinations, billing support, or maintenance activities preferred.
• Ability to communicate professionally with borrowers, clients, attorneys, title companies, investors, and internal partners.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced setting.
• Comfortable researching account activity, resolving routine servicing issues, and performing calculations related to balances, billing, interest, and adjustments.
• Experience with mortgage servicing platforms, including Black Knight systems, is preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
