Associate Attorney
Job Description
We are looking for an Associate Attorney to join a reputable mid-sized law firm in New York, New York. This role is suited for a litigation attorney with several years of hands-on experience managing matters through discovery, motion practice, depositions, and court appearances. The position offers exposure to a broad range of disputes, including liability, securities, medical malpractice, labor and employment, and insurance-related claims.
Responsibilities:
• Represent clients in court proceedings, conferences, and depositions while advancing litigation matters efficiently.
• Prepare and refine pleadings, motions, briefs, and other case-related filings for state and federal matters.
• Manage the discovery process by drafting requests, evaluating responses, and reviewing document productions for relevance and strategy.
• Conduct legal research to support case analysis, written advocacy, and litigation planning.
• Partner with senior attorneys and firm leadership on case development, defense strategy, and assignment execution.
• Draft and argue dispositive motions, including summary judgment submissions, with strong attention to procedural requirements.
• Maintain organized case files, monitor deadlines, and safeguard sensitive legal information throughout the lifecycle of each matter.
• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.• Active admission to practice law in New York and New Jersey.
• At least 3 years of litigation experience in a law firm or comparable legal environment.
• Demonstrated experience appearing in court and taking or defending depositions.
• Proven ability to draft summary judgment motions and other substantive legal filings.
• Strong working knowledge of federal and state rules of civil procedure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
