Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Working Foreman to plan, coordinate, and safely supervise a 5/6-person crew, installing underground piping on commercial and municipal projects. This is a hands-on role: you will operate and oversee heavy equipment, perform and direct manual tasks, complete daily reports, and enforce safety and quality standards on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and train a 5/6-person crew installing water, sewer, and storm drain systems
  • Read and execute work per project plans and specifications; ensure work meets industry standards
  • Operate and oversee heavy equipment (excavators, wheel loaders, rollers) and monitor equipment condition (fluids, filters, greasing, basic maintenance)
  • Establish and carry grades for trench excavation/backfill using pipe laser/transit as needed
  • Assemble and install shoring systems; enforce trenching and excavation safety protocols
  • Prepare and submit daily reports, red line drawings, track materials, and coordinate subcontractors on-site
  • Ensure jobsite safety, productivity, and communication with supervisors, GCs, and owners
  • Be on-site and ready to begin work by 6:45 AM

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years verifiable experience as a crew supervisor/foreman on pipe projects (project values > $1M) — required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating a 10‐ton track excavator or 10‐ton wheel loader — required
  • Experience with trench excavation, backfill, and shoring systems — required
  • Verifiable safety training and certifications (OSHA, Competent Person, Trenching & Excavation, Confined Space, Flagger) - required
  • Ability to read plans and carry grades; experience with pipe laser/transit preferred
  • Valid NC driver’s license and reliable transportation; clean driving record required (MVR check)
  • Willingness to submit to pre‐employment drug screen
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs. stand/bend/kneel for long periods in outdoor conditions.
  • English required; Spanish a plus

Pre-employment requirements

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
  • Completion of Zip Recruiter assessments required for consideration.

Preferred certifications

  • OSHA 10, Trenching & Shoring, Confined Space, CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
  • Equipment/operator certifications are a plus.
