Tax Staff Accountant
Job Description
Location: Chevy Chase, MD (Red Line Metro Access)
Position Type: Full-Time, In-Office Only
Must Be Located in the Washington, DC Metro Area
Liptz, Roberts, Marquez, Merkle, Singh & Zipor, Chartered is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant or CPA to join our growing CPA firm. We are looking to hire immediately and are seeking candidates with at least 3 years of public accounting and tax experience.
This is an in-office position only. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.
Responsibilities
- Prepare individual and business tax returns (1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065)
- Prepare tax extensions and quarterly estimated tax payments
- Calculate projected tax liabilities
- Develop supporting workpapers for tax engagements
- Perform bookkeeping and accounting write-up services
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and cash flow reports
- Process payroll and prepare payroll tax returns
- Record adjusting journal entries
- Assist with compilations and other accounting engagements
- Analyze financial data, budgets, and business operations
- Work directly with clients and partners on accounting and tax matters
Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of tax preparation experience
- Experience preparing individual and business tax returns
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Stable work history
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines
Preferred:
- CPA license or CPA candidate
- QuickBooks experience
- ProSystem fx experience
- Payroll processing experience
- Experience with compilations and deferred compensation plans
