Concrete Foreman

Department: Operations

Reports To: Superintendent / Project Manager

FLSA Status: Full-Time | Non-Exempt

Location: Greater Houston Area and Surrounding Municipalities

Position Summary

Arreis Construction Group is seeking an experienced Concrete Foreman to lead field operations for municipal and civil construction projects. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and executing all aspects of concrete construction while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract specifications and quality standards.

The Concrete Foreman will oversee daily field operations, supervise crews and equipment, coordinate with subcontractors and project management, and maintain a strong commitment to safety, productivity, and craftsmanship.

  • Retaining Structures
  • Miscellaneous Municipal Concrete Improvements

This position requires strong leadership, effective communication, and extensive knowledge of municipal concrete construction practices.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate concrete crews to safely complete daily production goals.
  • Plan daily work activities and assign responsibilities to crew members.
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Train, mentor, and develop field personnel.
  • Maintain productivity while promoting teamwork and accountability.
  • Conduct daily toolbox safety meetings.

Project Execution

  • Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project plans.
  • Coordinate layout and sequencing of concrete operations.
  • Verify grades, elevations, and dimensions prior to placement.
  • Oversee formwork installation, reinforcing steel placement, concrete placement, finishing, curing, and cleanup.
  • Coordinate inspections with project management and municipal inspectors.
  • Ensure compliance with contract specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify and resolve field issues before they impact production.

Safety

  • Enforce all OSHA regulations and Company safety policies.
  • Conduct daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Ensure all crew members utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.

Equipment & Materials

  • Coordinate equipment utilization and maintenance.
  • Inspect tools and equipment daily.
  • Monitor material deliveries and inventory.
  • Minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Report equipment repairs and maintenance needs promptly.

Documentation

  • Complete Daily Reports.
  • Track labor hours and production quantities.
  • Document installed quantities.
  • Record weather conditions.
  • Photograph project progress.
  • Maintain material tickets and delivery receipts.
  • Assist with quantity tracking for pay applications and project billing.


Communication

  • Communicate effectively with Superintendents, Project Managers, Inspectors, Engineers, Utility Representatives, and Clients.
  • Maintain professional relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and municipal representatives.
  • Immediately communicate schedule impacts or field conflicts.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience supervising concrete crews.
  • Experience in municipal, civil, or heavy highway construction preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete placement, finishing, grading, drainage, and utility construction.
  • Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
  • Experience operating construction equipment is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction
  • CPR & First Aid Certification
  • Competent Person Training
  • Confined Space Awareness
  • Trench Safety Awareness
  • Equipment Operator Certification (preferred)
  • Valid Texas Driver License with acceptable driving record


Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds.
  • Bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in trenches.
  • Working around heavy equipment and active construction operations.
  • Manual use of construction tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and varying schedules when required.


Work Environment

The Concrete Foreman will work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions including:

  • Extreme heat
  • Cold temperatures
  • Rain
  • Dust
  • Mud
  • Noise
  • Uneven terrain


Employees may be exposed to heavy equipment, moving vehicles, excavation activities, underground utilities, and other construction hazards. Compliance with Company safety policies and OSHA regulations is required at all times.
