Accounting Bookkeeper
Job Description
We are seeking an Accounting Bookkeeper to join our team in Glenwood, MD. This role requires strong communication skills to collaborate closely with our in-house staff, with a preference for candidates who have experience in construction accounting. The ideal candidate will be proficient in QuickBooks and eager to learn project management and estimating software applications.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate accounting functions with office staff, reviewing payroll, project costs, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Perform weekly QuickBooks data entry including expenses from credit cards, checks, and payroll.
- Process payroll data and print payroll checks.
- Reconcile credit card and checking accounts regularly.
- Prepare weekly financial reports including project cost reports, cash flow analysis, profit/loss statements, and balance sheets, entering data into Procore software.
- Track equipment rental, tools, and supplies expenses by project for accurate payables management.
- Manage payment of expenses after approval, and communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies.
- Archive all expense receipts in vendor folders on OneDrive and manage vendor credit applications and account setups.
- Assist with receivables by reviewing and sending invoices to customers, following up to ensure timely payments.
- Prepare annual financial reports including detailed profit & loss statements and balance sheets for tax purposes, along with payroll reports for insurance audits.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and collaborate closely with management personnel.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, accounting clerk, or similar role.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Foundation.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity.
- Excellent communication, time management skills, and a positive, helpful attitude.
- Fluency in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
- Experience with construction accounting.
- QuickBooks Online expertise.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
