Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Real Estate Bookkeeper, based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. The Senior Real Estate Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, maintaining bookkeeping processes, and handling journal entries. This role involves working with accounting software and collaborating with finance teams to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely reporting in all financial matters.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Financial Statements preparation and analysis
- Proficiency in Bookkeeping and familiarity with Accounting Software
- Knowledge of Finance fundamentals and experience managing Journal Entries
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Experience in real estate accounting is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
- Experience with industry-specific software is an advantage
Responsibilities
Multi-Entity Accounting
• Maintain general ledgers across multiple LLC entities
• Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Record intercompany entries and reconcile due-to/due-from balances
• Track capital contributions and distributions
Development / Construction Accounting
• Track construction costs and maintain job cost schedules
• Monitor budget vs. actual performance
• Support construction draw and retainage tracking
• Maintain CIP and fixed asset schedules
Monthly Close
• Execute monthly close process
• Prepare reconciliations and supporting schedules
Audit Support
• Maintain audit-ready documentation
• Support CPA requests and year-end close
Qualifications
• 5+ years real estate accounting experience
• Direct experience with development/construction accounting (CIP required)
• Experience in multi-entity environments (LLCs)
• Strong QuickBooks proficiency
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups)
Compensation
• $85,000 – $105,000 base
• Bonus opportunity
