Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader

The Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader is a hands-on leader responsible for directing day-to-day ground maintenance operations on client properties. Working directly alongside a crew of 2 members, the Crew Leader ensures high-quality lawn and enforces safety protocols, maintains equipment, and serves as the primary point of contact between field technicians and site supervisors.

Core Responsibilities

1. On-Site Leadership & Daily Operations

• Direct Supervision: Lead, motivate, and train a crew of 2 members in daily grounds maintenance tasks.
• Field Execution: Work alongside the team performing mowing, string trimming, hedging, pruning, weeding, mulching, and debris removal.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect completed work on-site to ensure it meets company standards and client specifications before departing.
• Time Management: Keep jobs on schedule according to daily work orders and budgeted labor hours.

2. Equipment & Vehicle Care

• Oversee daily prep and loading/unloading of trailers, equipment, and trucks.
• Safely operate commercial mowers (walk-behind, zero-turn), string trimmers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, and chainsaws.

3. Safety & Compliance

• Conduct weekly safety "tailgate" talks and enforce daily safety standards.
• Ensure all team members wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Maintain a zero-incident work environment by adhering to driving and equipment operation rules.

4. Communication & Record Keeping

• Serve as the main point of contact for property owners/clients while on-site.
• Identify and report property issues (irrigation leaks, dead plants, to management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 2–3+ years in commercial or residential landscape maintenance, with at least 1 year in a leadership/supervisory role.
• Driver's License: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (able to tow a trailer).
• Technical Knowledge: Strong background in, pruning techniques, and basic turf/irrigation care.
• Languages: English proficiency required; bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly desirable.
• Soft Skills: Problem-solving ability, clear communication, and time-management skills.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Outdoor Conditions: Must be comfortable working in variable outdoor conditions (heat, rain, cold).
• Physical Stamina: Able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, stoop, bend, crouch, and walk for 8–10 hours per day.
