Corporate Staff Accountant

Overview

Morrow Hospitality Groups is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Corporate Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate accounting and financial management, with expertise in various accounting software and principles. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
• Conduct account reconciliations, including balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
• Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely processing of transactions.
• Perform financial report writing and interpretation to provide insights into the company’s financial performance.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to support corporate finance activities.
• Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and other relevant securities laws.
• Conduct auditing procedures to verify the accuracy of financial records.
• Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, and Microsoft Excel for efficient financial management.
• Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
• Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in business accounting..
• Strong knowledge of corporate accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in technical accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and journal entries.
• Familiarity with restaurant accounting practices is a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform financial analysis and account analysis effectively.
• Experience in regulatory reporting and compliance within the financial services sector.
• Strong understanding of financial concepts including cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
• Ability to prepare detailed financial reports that support strategic business decisions.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex financial information clearly to stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
