Morrow Hospitality Groups is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Corporate Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate accounting and financial management, with expertise in various accounting software and principles. Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
- Conduct account reconciliations, including balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely processing of transactions.
- Perform financial report writing and interpretation to provide insights into the company’s financial performance.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to support corporate finance activities.
- Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and other relevant securities laws.
- Conduct auditing procedures to verify the accuracy of financial records.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, and Microsoft Excel for efficient financial management.
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
- Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in business accounting..
- Strong knowledge of corporate accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in technical accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and journal entries.
- Familiarity with restaurant accounting practices is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform financial analysis and account analysis effectively.
- Experience in regulatory reporting and compliance within the financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
- Ability to prepare detailed financial reports that support strategic business decisions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex financial information clearly to stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
