Jr. Litigation Paralegal
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Litigation Paralegal to join a growing litigation team in San Diego, California. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys and senior legal staff on complex federal litigation matters, supporting cases from inception through trial. The ideal candidate will have experience with federal court procedures, electronic filing systems, docket management, and litigation support in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare, revise, and organize legal documents while maintaining accurate version control and compliance with court filing deadlines.
• Draft, format, proofread, and file pleadings, motions, declarations, notices, and other court submissions in federal and state courts.
• Manage electronic filings through CM/ECF and maintain familiarity with filing procedures across multiple federal court jurisdictions.
• Monitor court dockets through PACER and other platforms, tracking filings, orders, and case developments.
• Review scheduling orders and calculate litigation deadlines in accordance with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, local court rules, and court-issued deadlines.
• Prepare shell documents, hearing binders, exhibits, proposed orders, proofs of service, and other filing-ready materials.
• Assist with all phases of discovery, including managing productions, organizing document collections, drafting discovery requests and responses, and coordinating attorney review.
• Support deposition preparation by coordinating logistics, preparing exhibits, summarizing records, and organizing case materials.
• Communicate with court personnel, opposing counsel, vendors, and clients regarding filings, scheduling, and procedural matters.
• Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including managing exhibits, witness files, trial notebooks, and pretrial submissions.
• Maintain organized case files and litigation calendars within the firm's document and case management systems.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of paralegal experience supporting complex civil litigation matters.
• ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate preferred.
• Demonstrated experience supporting matters in federal court, including electronic filing through CM/ECF.
• Working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) and federal court deadlines.
• Experience filing in multiple federal court jurisdictions strongly preferred.
• Proven experience managing litigation calendars, calculating deadlines, and maintaining docketing systems.
• Experience preparing pleadings, motions, declarations, exhibits, and other litigation documents for court filing.
• Knowledge of PACER, CM/ECF, and litigation support software.
• Experience supporting discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
• Exposure to intellectual property matters, including trademark or copyright work, is a plus.
