Job Title: ED Registration Specialist (Second Shift)

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (rotating Tuesday–Saturday schedule approximately once per month; initial daytime training required)

Job Description:
The ED Registration Specialist plays a key role in supporting patient intake within a fast-paced emergency department setting. This position focuses on collecting accurate patient information, verifying insurance coverage, and assisting patients with financial responsibilities while ensuring a smooth registration experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and confirm patient demographic and insurance details through direct interaction and phone communication
- Enter, review, and maintain accurate patient records within the electronic health record system
- Assist with patient scheduling as well as check-in and discharge workflows when needed
- Collect upfront payments and accurately document financial transactions
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility using various verification methods
- Support authorization and pre-certification activities, including documentation submission
- Estimate patient financial responsibility and identify eligibility for assistance programs
- Guide patients through financial assistance options, insurance processes, and payment plan setup
- Educate patients on billing procedures and financial expectations
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of patient interactions
- Stay current on payer guidelines and registration best practices
- Provide general administrative and patient support as assigned
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in patient registration; emergency department experience preferred
- Hands-on experience with Epic (required)
- Basic understanding of insurance verification and healthcare billing processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume work
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven reliability with consistent attendance and strong work ethic
- Flexible schedule availability
Additional Details:
- Approximately 4-week training period on day shift (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
- Fully onsite role in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Background check, drug screening, and additional compliance requirements required
- High school diploma required from an accredited institution (education verification required)
