Location: Charlotte, NC

Compensation: $19.00 – $25.50 per hour

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) through Addison Group during the contract period.

About the Opportunity

Addison Group is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist on behalf of our client for a contract-to-hire opportunity within a growing healthcare organization. This role focuses on insurance follow-up, denial resolution, and patient account management while supporting a high-performing revenue cycle team. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who is driven, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within the healthcare billing space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned accounts to resolve outstanding balances through insurance follow-up and claim review
  • Investigate denied claims, determine root causes, and submit corrected claims or appeals for reimbursement
  • Communicate with insurance carriers to verify claim status, coverage, and payment discrepancies
  • Work directly with patients to address billing questions and assist with payment resolution when needed
  • Maintain productivity standards by efficiently working through assigned account volumes
  • Accurately document account activity and updates within the billing system
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate resolution of account issues
  • Monitor aging reports and prioritize accounts requiring immediate attention



Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable within a healthcare setting
  • Experience with physician/professional billing strongly preferred
  • Background in insurance follow-up, denial management, and collections processes
  • Familiarity with EMR/billing systems (Athena experience preferred)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts while maintaining accuracy and productivity
  • Excellent communication skills for working with both patients and insurance representatives
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
