Job Description
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading plant engineering, capital projects, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives within a food manufacturing facility. This role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Corporate Engineering to improve plant performance while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead capital projects including equipment installations, facility upgrades, and process improvements from planning through execution.
- Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and ROI justifications.
- Improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime through root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with GMPs, FDA, USDA, and OSHA requirements.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Sanitation to support production goals and regulatory compliance.
- Manage engineering staff, contractors, and vendors while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase manufacturing performance.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or related Engineering field.
- 5+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing.
- 2+ years of engineering leadership or capital project management experience.
- Experience managing capital projects and equipment installations.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
Preferred
- Food, beverage, dairy, frozen food, or other CPG manufacturing experience.
- Familiarity with GMPs, food safety regulations, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with plant utilities, facility infrastructure, and capital planning.
- Capital projects completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Improved equipment reliability and reduced downtime.
- Measurable cost savings and operational improvements.
- Strong cross-functional partnerships that support safe, efficient manufacturing.
