Job Description
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading plant engineering, capital projects, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives within a food manufacturing facility. This role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Corporate Engineering to improve plant performance while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead capital projects including equipment installations, facility upgrades, and process improvements from planning through execution.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and ROI justifications.
  • Improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime through root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with GMPs, FDA, USDA, and OSHA requirements.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Sanitation to support production goals and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage engineering staff, contractors, and vendors while promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase manufacturing performance.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or related Engineering field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of engineering leadership or capital project management experience.
  • Experience managing capital projects and equipment installations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.

Preferred

  • Food, beverage, dairy, frozen food, or other CPG manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with GMPs, food safety regulations, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with plant utilities, facility infrastructure, and capital planning.
