Bottom-End Layup Technician, Residential Doors
Job Description
You’ll join our 2nd shift team (3pm-130am), earning $17-20 Hr with $2 shift differential, to turn raw materials into finished, high-quality residential doors.
Your shift flow- Review the production ticket to understand the door construction, customer specifications, and the exact build required.
- Slide, push, pull, and pick up the cull board onto the lift table, positioning materials safely and efficiently.
- Retrieve materials from the glue spreader and, with careful hand placement, direct materials to the top-end layup builder.
- Lay out skins on cupboards, place glued components onto the skin aligned to spec, and cap with a new skin to complete the door layup.
- Use the foot pedal to align the lift table with the transfer cart and push the door stack onto the cart.
- Support other door assembly operations as assigned to keep production moving.
- Reading/interpreting tickets and quality specs
- Understanding proper door construction, door types, core types, and stile/rail/block types
- Read/interpret production tickets accurately
- Perform visual quality checks throughout the build
- Comprehend and follow build construction specifications
- Operate with little to no supervision
- Ensure correct placement of components to match the build spec
- Run directly from tickets; verify both quality and quantity
- Lift up to 20 lbs on the Hollow Core and Heritage specials line; up to 80 lbs on the Solid Core and specials line
- Frequent bending, twisting, stooping; excellent dexterity required
- Work at a fast pace with multiple glue-coated parts; strong hand–eye coordination
- Stand for long, continuous hours
- Constant attention to build details and precise material placement
- Monitor glue levels and maintain safe, effective hand placement
- Partner closely with a feeder and another operator; success is team-built
- Mildly controlled environment with some cold/heat in extreme weather and a mild dust presence
