Job Description
Title: Bookkeeper
Location: Schaumburg, Illinois
Assignment Type: 3-month contract with the possibility of extensions
Compensation: $29.00 - $32.00 / Hourly depending on relevant experience

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day financial operations of a growing organization. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable transactions, performing bank reconciliations, and assisting with month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial records, including general ledger entries.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and timely.
- Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
- Record and reconcile daily cash receipts and deposits.
- Prepare and process invoices, payments, and expense reports.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on past-due accounts as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation and filing of financial records.
- Generate financial reports and assist with budget tracking and analysis.
- Support payroll processing and ensure accurate employee payment records.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or general ledger experience.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
